Getting started

WIP harbour

I have started work on the harbour pieces. I really enjoy searching through my fabrics to find just the right pieces. I always look at the reverse side, this can be more subtle, and is sometimes best for the work in hand. I was brought up to waste as little of the fabric as possible and find it difficult to cut into the middle of a piece of materiale, but it is sometimes necessary to find the exact pattern or colour you want. Having said this nothing goes to waste. I have a big glass jar on my work table and tiny left over bits go in there and are used for small compositions such as unique greeting cards.

I have chosen not to dye my own fabrics and love the hunt for weird and wonderful bits and pieces. These can often be sourced at car boot sales or charity shops.
