Hand embroidery – stitches

I like to play around with different stitches. I do have my all time favourites, that can be used in so many different ways that I could easily manage with those. I love herringbone, blanket stitch, feather stitch, fly stitch and chain stitch and of course the humble running stitch that be used for nearly everything. I have though, made my own little stitch vocabulary, just to make sure that I do try other stitches once in a while.

I have made a kind of sampler on thick felt – just sitting in front of the TV and going with the flow.

For teaching purposes I have made some stitch samples, also on felt ,and stuck these on  to wooden tags , writing the name of the stitch on the back of each one.
