Looking for fabrics at the local shop can be a tedious and expensive affair. They may have beauitiful fabric for patchwork or dress making, but it can be difficult finding the strange bits and pieces for use in art work. The image shows a patchwork skirt found at a car boot sale for next to nothing. The fabrics are very flimsy and fray easily, but this can be used to my advantage. There are so many different colours and patterns that this skirt has proved to be very useful. I also rummage through the scarves as these can be loose woven og transparent, and inexpensive. I wash everything before use. Remember too to look at the wrong side of the materiale, as this can be very different from the right side and often more subtle.
