More straight stitch

This piece of embroidery illustrates the fact, that you do not necessarily need to know many different stitches to start embroidering. This full blown tulip, inspired by  a drawing done with coloured pencils, might not be a September project, but the technique can be applied to other subjects. It was sewn using different yarns and threads, but using the same stitch, nearly  all the way through. The stamens were machine sewn and the stem is wool. The base fabric is the corner of an cotton old tablecloth.
