Making textile pictures

I have realised, that for me, part of the fun in making textile pieces lies in the “can I do that – and how can I do it” Drawing and sketching are an integral part of my every day life. I draw what ever takes my fancy, usually from organic sources, and sometimes these drawings “ask” to be taken further and into the world of textiles. I do not dye my fabrics, and I  really enjoy the search for suitable fabrics and working out how to portray the original drawing in a dfferent media.

In this piece “The Swinging  Sixties” the challenge  was not so much the choice of fabric but which techniques to use, to achieve the wanted effect. The record can be removed from the cover and has been sewn throughout. The label is a photo copy and the only paper used in the piece.
