Sculptress – Sonja Ferlov Mancoba

The National Gallery in Copenhagen has, at present, a small but very interesting exhibition of sculpture and drawings, paintings and collages made by the Danish artist Sonja Ferlov Mancoba (1911 – 1984). She lived in Paris for many years and met many influential artists – e.g. Giacometti, Miro and Arp. She was inflenced by surrealisme and non western art and culture.

i think that, her collages and pastel drawings have a beautiful textile-like quality.

Sonja once said”………….Only through each other can we live and breathe, and no-one creates alone…………”
