Roots

I have been working in my sketchbook on an amaryllis bulb and the beautiful dry roots. (Se these over on my blog) So inspired, I kept the roots from a couple of leeks – used for leek and potato soup for dinner – to draw too.

I used a fine white pen on black paper and then went on to use ink and a brush – using the handle to “pull” the roots . there are also pen drawings and also on the second page, I tried using the roots as a brush – dipping them into ink and drawing with them
